Nobody really expected this gig to happen. Heart in Hand have been making a name for themselves of late. Appearing in the pages of Kerrang!, playing alongside bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder at Ghostfest, Supporting like likes of Miss May I. It seemed like their days of playing small clubs were over. Their size reflected in the price, a gig more expensive than Fightfest at the same venue a couple of months before. So how would this gig go?

Opening up to replace Olympian, Weathered Hands played their heats out. There wasn't a single moment of the set where their guitarist was on stage. He's pacing the gap where the pit should be, going mental. They don't get the crowd going, but they deserve it. They are brutal, loud, tight, and at certain points (the drummer definitely punched the wall and the guitarist his guitar), quite violent.

The Cold Harbour step up next. They were just as good. Less energetic, more thought went into the music they're making as opposed to the show they were giving, but they can't be faulted. The pit was empty for the first half of their set, someone needed to go crazy just once, and eventually they did. The circle filled up with swinging arms and sweat. They did a good job. But it didn't even scratch Forever Grace.

You'd think that as they play literally every single one of these WXC shows which attract near enough the same crowd each time, that the everyone would start getting bored of hearing the same songs at every gig. This was the fifth time I've seen them live, and they were fucking amazing. I'm sat here trying to put into words how good they were compared to other times I've seen them, and it's so difficult. There was so much movement from the crowd during their set, they were so confident on stage, it was an absolutely sublime set.

Foxxes were good, but that's all. They had a dodgy start, out of time and it seemed like compared to the mammoth sets before them, they were struggling. They did improve, that's for sure. They bucked up and became as tight as anyone before them. They were quieter as well, which can't be their fault. It's hard to explain what was wrong, but they just seemed a bit empty.

So then it was the turn of the headliners, Heart in Hand. Their riffs got everyone going mental, people were shouting along, their breakdowns were brutal. They were the best by far. People were banging their heads like they were never going to listen to music again, and their encore just made the set all the more routine. A perfect end to an absolutely insane gig, it's hard to see how the next gig of Demoraliser
